Like carrying half a ton of batteries is fuel efficient? huh? It is just fuel different. And less efficient. It is just hidden. And sheet metal and metal stamping are a lot more efficient than hand assembling multi-metal/plastic/chemical batteries.

I also noticed that the weight of the drivers were different. Note the BMW is a skinny guy and the Toyota Prius was a pretty big guy, sorta obese actually. That has factors in mileage, if you weigh 100 pounds more than normal…

Why did the driver of the BMW admit to using the A/C and radio? I thought Europe outlawed them both.

I’ve been saying all along that Diesels are the way to go. I myself drive a VW Jetta TDI (Turbo Direct Injection) in Houston, TX rush hour traffic. I drive about 300 miles a week and fill up every other week, meaning I get an easy 700 miles on one tank of ~13 gal.

Just sayin’

re: #4 Beobachter

How many miles do you have on your tdi?

I’m driving an ‘01 Jetta with well over 300,000 miles on it. Still runs like new! Had to replace the egr with a straight pipe as the intake manifold would continually get clogged with soot. Other than that, I’ve no troubles from the tdi.

The first scheduled timing belt change for mine fell on 9-11-01. I had dropped it off at the dealership and was driving in a loaner to Indianapolis and contemplating personal matters when the thought to turn on the radio hit me. I didn’t really want to listen to the radio, as I was doing some problem solving. The thought to turn on the radio kept nagging at me, so I turned it on. This was just in time to hear that the one of the trade towers had been struck by a plane, and in just a few moments I listened as a person who was on the phone to the news source describing what he could see from his office window, and then he saw the second tower being hit.
I was in 3rd grade class when Pres. Kennedy was assassinated and it was announced over the pa system and we were sent home from school. That was the first stunning and surreal experience of my life.

I was even more profoundly affected by the 9-11 experience.
